Cryptography for Internet & Database Applications
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (15 July, 2002)
Average review score:

Protect Those LadiesLet's face it, databases are just "naked ladies" on the Internet. They have no protection at all. This is the first book that I've ever bought that shows how to use crypto to get some clothes on those ladies and keep your credit card number and mine safe. Word to the wise-buy this book.

Culpeper's Complete Herbal & English Physician
Published in Hardcover by Meyerbooks (March, 1987)
Average review score:

Culpeper's Complete Herbal & English PhysicianIt was very beneficial to me, because I'm writing a novel that is set in the eighteenth century, and I need to know the herbal remedies used in that time period. Having this around will save me a lot of time in research.

The Czar's British squadron
Published in Unknown Binding by Kimber ()
Average review score:

Unbelievable-but it is history and it's true! This is the type of history that you won't read in history books and as a layman in military history, I have to say I have been completely brought "about-face" to the realities of WWI--especially the British-Russian Armored car Squadron of the Royal Navy--this would be the "other" heroic story we didn't read about after "Lawrence of Arabia"--so it should be "Oliver of Russia". There should be a sequel with the "rest of the story".

Daily Life in Russia Under the Last Tsar
Published in Paperback by Stanford Univ Pr (April, 1979)
Average review score:

Memories of Moscow, 1903Imagine time-traveling with a smart gentleman who is energetic, enthusiastic, sociable, and just happened to have lived there 'then.' This is the seamless, appropriately elaborate, and richly detailed adventure one experiences in reading this book. Troyat called this book a mere "sentimental promenade,' but he was much too modest. Biographer of Flaubert, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Elizabeth I and others, he had a pre-Revolutionary Russian early childhood, and the recollections of his (refugees-to-France) family members. In this book he enthusiastically and carefully recreates the sights, sounds, smells of daily life. The peasantry, workers and their everpresent sufferings and struggles, commerce, law, food, the gentry, the tsar and his retinue, social life, the hapless serfs, plus plans, hopes, and dreams. The chapter "Moscow's Many Faces" is reminiscence, and very informative. The research is the backbone of this work, which is greatly enriched and informed by Troyat's emotional ties to -- and sensory recall of -- the time and place.

Dancing With Lawyers: How to Take Charge and Get Results
Published in Hardcover by Hastings Research, Inc. (January, 1992)
Average review score:

Smart advice, no lawyer jokes. When I was divorced last year and had to find a lawyer for the first time, this book saved me lots of frustration (and probably lots of time and money). It's very useful -- and it's even fun to read. The author's one smart guy. Everyone ought to have this book handy, because sometime, everyone has to hire a lawyer for something. Don't do it without this book.

Awesome ReadingI read this book many years ago in Russian, now that I have grown up I am reading it again. It is wonderfuly written. I do not know about the english version, but the Russian verson was just brilliant. Can't put it down, the royal dances to the horrific changes in Russian history, tied in with the roamance. I love this book. Reccomend it to anyone. Enjoy!
